It’s that time of year again when imaginative chocolatiers tempt us into eating egg-shaped treats and indulging in a variety of chocolate bunnies. I have great memories of collecting amassing obscene amounts of easter eggs as a child and completely gorging myself on Easter Sunday. The living room usually looked like some broken chocolate bomb-site and for the days that followed, my siblings and I would graze contentedly on the remains, in a kind of chocolate induced stupor.

Nowadays, I try to limit my egg eating to one (well, maybe two… and a bunny!) so I have to get my chocolate fix elsewhere. Yes, you got it in one – hot chocolate! That doesn’t count, does it? Well apart from an entirely innocent hot chocolate at the end of a long day, I love to indulge in a good chocolatey book. So, for the season that’s in it, here are a few delicious books that will, frankly, only increase your cravings for chocolate! Ah, what the hell, it’s Easter 🙂
The original and the best, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
The dark and magical Chocolat by Joanne Harris
The very seductive Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
For all you history buffs, The True History of Chocolate by Sophie & Michael Coe.
And for a jazzy little taste of Pure Imagination, here’s Jamie 🙂
Happy Easter!
No limits! Cadbury’s Creme Eggs here I come. And it qualifies as an egg hunt as they’re tricky (ish) to find in NYC 🙂 Oh okay so Duane Raede on the corner does them…
